Our Mission
At Creative World Learning Center our mission is to provide a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment where children feel valued, loved, and supported as they grow and explore. As a family-owned and operated childcare center, we are dedicated to fostering each child’s unique potential through age-appropriate activities that promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development. We believe in building strong partnerships with families to create a community where children thrive, curiosity is celebrated, and lifelong learning begins.

Meet The Owners

Michele Johnson
The heart behind Creative World Learning Center began beating long before our doors officially opened. Ms. Michele was raised in the world of early childhood education—her mother began operating daycare centers in 1956, and Michele grew up immersed in the day-to-day life of nurturing young minds and supporting families. It was in those early years that she developed not just a knowledge of child care, but a deep passion for it.
After relocating to Virginia in the early 1980s, Michele knew she wanted to continue the legacy her mother had started. In 1986, she opened her first school in Annandale, Virginia, guided by a vision to provide children with a safe, creative, and loving place to learn and grow. Her dedication to children and families, combined with a strong desire to make a lasting difference in the community, helped Creative World flourish.
Over the years, Michele went on to open additional schools in Chantilly, Woodbridge, and Alexandria—expanding her reach and impact across Northern Virginia. Her commitment to quality education and care has touched the lives of countless families.
Although now semi-retired, Ms. Michele continues to be an active and supportive presence in the CWLC community. She remains deeply involved with both staff and families and is proudly working to pass the torch to the next generation. Her granddaughter, Samantha, is now stepping into leadership, continuing the family tradition of care, compassion, and community impact.

Samantha Cumming
Samantha represents the fourth generation in a proud legacy of early childhood education. Growing up alongside her grandmother in the daycare world, she developed a strong foundation rooted in compassion, family values, and a deep love for working with children.
Before stepping into her role at Creative World Learning Center full-time, Samantha gained diverse professional experience that continues to shape her leadership. She served as a leader with Loudoun County Parks and Recreation, later worked as a child and family therapist, and also held Human Resources roles with several large companies—developing strong skills in team building, employee support, and organizational development.
Samantha holds a Master’s degree in Education from Virginia Wesleyan University and brings both professional expertise and personal passion to her role. Her mission is to continue building on her family’s vision—fostering a nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. With dedication and heart, Samantha is honored to carry on the legacy and lead Creative World Learning Center into the future.
